“An electronic patent application in the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) is processed almost instantly, since it, unlike a paper one, no longer needs to be converted into electronic form,” President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) Grigory Ivliev interviewed TASS.

“Almost instantly. The speed of processing a Eurasian application at the Eurasian Patent Office practically does not depend on the form of filing: whether you bring it on paper or send it using our electronic services. The procedure is the same. Another thing is that a paper application must first be converted into electronic form, and this takes time,” he said.

At the same time, the EAPO President noted that electronic interaction has a great advantage as information about new correspondence on the application is immediately sent to the e-mail address indicated by the applicant. “Both in the context of promptness and accuracy of correspondence delivery, electronic interaction have a tremendous advantage. Information about new correspondence on the application is sent to the applicant or his representative to the e-mail address indicated by him, and it depends only on the applicant himself how quickly he will get acquainted with it,” he said.

Electronic documents on the application are available online 24/7 in both the personal account of the EAPO-online system and the EAPO-Mobile application. “They can be accessed immediately anywhere in the world. It is also possible to file frequently used requests for maintenance of the Eurasian patent and requests for extension of the term of consideration online,” he added.
