The meeting with Eurasian patent attorneys in a new format resulted in an active dialogue between patent attorneys and EAPO specialists. A wide range of issues arising from the development of cooperation between the EAPO and Eurasian patent attorneys were discussed. The participants focused on the prospective development areas of the EAPO, including the creation of regional systems of legal protection of trademarks and utility models within the Eurasian patent system.

Valery Medvedev and Sergey Belyaev made welcoming speeches.

The Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys actively participated in the discussion. It was established last year to develop the institute of Eurasian patent attorneys as an international community of qualified representatives of applicants and patent owners before the Eurasian Patent Office.

‘The establishment of the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys means, first of all, a qualitatively new level of interaction with representatives of applicants and patent owners. We expect that such interaction will become one of the key factors improving the quality of services provided by both the Eurasian Patent Office and Eurasian patent attorneys,’ Grigory Ivliev stated at the meeting.

Eduard Shablin reported on the main development areas of the Assembly’s activities and emphasized the importance of the decision approved at the Assembly’s ordinary meeting to set up an additional office in the Republic of Belarus.
