Round table discussion on the protection of software and computer inventions in the Republic of Tajikistan
On November 30, 2023, the National Center for Patents and Information (NCPI) of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a round table discussion “Computer programs as inventions in the Republic of Tajikistan.” The executives and employees of the NCPI, an examiner from the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization, representatives of ministries and offices, universities and IT companies, as well as young programmers took part in the discussion.
Ismoilzoda Mirzo, Director of the NCPI, made an opening speech at the meeting.
National and foreign examiners provided detailed information on the protection of computer programs.
Valentin Panko, principal examiner of the Mechanics, Physics and Electrical Engineering Division of the EAPO Examination Department, made a report on the specifics of examination of computer-implemented inventions.
The participants in the round table discussion also presented software created by developers from the Republic of Tajikistan. At the end of the meeting, the examiners and participants discussed important aspects of the topic.
