A meeting of the heads of intellectual property offices of Central Asian countries and China (C + C5) was held in the city of Urumqi in the Xinjiang region of the People’s Republic of China.

Within the framework of this event, the China-Central Asia Forum on Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property, a high-level seminar on intellectual property issues in Central Asia, including in the field of geographical indications and appellations of origin, and meetings of heads of intellectual property offices were held. Important intellectual property issues at the regional level were discussed.

The Forum was attended by representatives of the intellectual property offices of the Eurasian Patent Organisation (EAPO) Member States, namely the Republic of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan. According to the official website of the National Center for Patents and Information of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan (NCPI), high-ranking representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization and relevant institutions of the People’s Republic of China also participated in the event.

The Director of the NCPI, Ismoilzoda Mirzo, Head of the Department of Science, Innovation and Information Resources of the Department for the Development of the Social Sphere of the Ministry of Economic Development, Barotov M.M. and Adviser to the Director of the Office, Gennady Kupaya, took part in this event on behalf of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the speeches and meetings, it was noted that in order to fulfill the instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, and strategic plans for intellectual property, international cooperation is being carried out to improve the position of the country’s intellectual property and its presentation to the states of the foreign states.

During the events, delegations from Central Asian countries visited the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Xinjiang Pharmaceutical Company and TBEA, where they learnt about their activities in detail.
