The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Summer School was held in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan). The School was organized by the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Kazakhstan with WIPO support on the basis of the International University of Information Technologies.
The program of the School traditionally included lectures on various issues of IP rights protection and enforcement, IP valuation, branding, intangible asset management, technology transfer and licensing, copyright and related rights, patenting and means of individualization.
Patent attorneys from the Republic of Kazakhstan, lawyers, students, representatives of universities, companies, local departments of the Ministry of Justice and the Centre of Forensic Expertise of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the Summer School.
Representatives of WIPO, the National Institute of Intellectual Property, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), the Science Foundation JSC, Nazarbayev University, and the Publishing House “Intellectual Property” were the speakers in the School.
Dmitry Rogozhin, Deputy Head of the EAPO Examination Department, Head of the Formal Examination Division, and Asemgul Abenova, Head of the Industrial Designs Division, delivered reports on behalf of the EAPO.
