Representatives of the national patent offices have completed their internship at the EAPO

Armen Azizyan, the Counselor to the President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), granted certificates of Eurasian internship attendance to specialists and examiners of national offices of the Eurasian Patent Organization’s Member States.

14 professionals from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Kyrgyz Republic successfully completed the training program “Eurasian Patent System for Inventions. Specifics of the Examination of Eurasian Applications in the Field of Mechanics, Physics and Electrical Engineering” from June 19 to June 30, 2023.

The leading examiners from the EAPO and the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (Russian Federation) gave lectures on all aspects of the Eurasian patent system, from the specifics of filing applications to filing a notice of opposition with the EAPO, as well as the International Patent Classification, the patenting of IT solutions, the regional phase of examining PCT applications, and EAPO electronic services.

During the internship, several round tables in the “question and answer” format were held, where examiners from the national patent offices had an opportunity to discuss the approaches and practice of the national offices, compare them with the practice of their EAPO colleagues, and express their proposals on the development of the Eurasian system of internships and retraining programs. The final event was a roundtable discussion with the Counselor to the EAPO President, Armen Azizyan, who granted certificates of attendance to all participants in the internship.

“I congratulate all my colleagues on the successful completion of the course and wish them further success in the development of national patent systems, active participation in the improvement of the regional system for intellectual property protection, and new professional achievements. I hope you will contribute to the formation of a common Eurasian information and examination space”, the Counselor to the EAPO President encouraged the trainees.
