EAPO President Grigory Ivliev visited the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in a regional seminar on licensing for technoparks, participants of the EAPO and WIPO pilot project on IP rights management. Residents of technoparks in Uzbekistan also take part in the training events.

Grigory Ivliev had a meeting with the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akbar Tashkulov, and presented the prospects of joining the Eurasian Patent Organization.

“Uzbekistan’s participation in the regional system for protection of inventions and industrial designs will provide additional advantages for applicants, primarily representatives of businesses operating in the Eurasian space.

The accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan will provide a number of significant long-term advantages, including promotion of economic development by attracting new companies to the country’s market, increase of investment potential, and promotion of interests at the regional level,” noted the President of the EAPO.

The parties also discussed areas of cooperation in the field of intellectual property and Uzbekistan’s participation in integration projects. An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum, which includes proposals on various areas of cooperation, such as the participation of specialists from the Republic of Uzbekistan in educational projects, improving the quality of examination, experience exchange on the digitalization of the Office, exchange of patent information, etc.
