Grigory Ivliev, EAPO President, hold meetings with the WIPO Sector Leads on the sidelines of the WIPO Assemblies.

In the course of the meeting with Marco Aleman, Assistant Director General of WIPO, the parties discussed the implementation of the joint Pilot project on expansion of technoparks’ capabilities in the field of IP rights management.  Emphasis was made on the regional experience in IP dispute resolution and the prospects for the use of mechanisms for centralized dispute resolution for IP subject matters with a regional scope of protection.

During the meeting with Lisa Jorgenson, Deputy Director General of WIPO, the parties discussed the operation of the EAPO as a competent International Searching Authority (ISA) and the progress of the PCT system.

The parties agreed to cooperate on the development of the EAPO Pharmaceutical Registry, in particular, international practice of regulating the use of data from Pharmaceutical Registries for the protection of rights.

Lisa Jorgenson supported the recommendation to increase the use of Russian language for international publication and communication with users. The translation of all essential PCT forms into Russian had previously been provided with the support of the EAPO.

Grigory Ivliev also had discussions with Binying Wang, Deputy Director General of WIPO. The parties focused on the EAPO’s accession to the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs. The EAPO President and the WIPO Deputy Director General discussed the prospects of the Eurasian trademark in the region as well.

Binying Wang noted the efficient contribution of the EAPO to the promotion of the Russian language in WIPO, and expressed readiness to continue cooperation and exchange of experience.
