EAPO to Expand Electronic Document Exchange on Eurasian Applications and Patents since January 1, 2023

The Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) informs all users that the Procedure for the electronic exchange of documents in the course of the Eurasian patent procedure is being put into effect from January 1, 2023.

New agreements on the electronic exchange of documents within the framework of the Eurasian patent procedure will be concluded with users of the EAPO-ONLINE electronic exchange system based on the Procedure. This will expand the electronic document flow for Eurasian applications and Eurasian patents between users of the system and the Eurasian Office.

Starting January 1, 2023, when entering the EAPO-ONLINE electronic exchange system, users will be proposed to read and accept the terms of the agreement on the electronic exchange of documents in the course of the Eurasian patent procedure.

From January 1, 2023, users of the system will benefit from the new functionality related to filing and receiving correspondence in electronic form for a number of procedures. In particular, users will be able to submit in electronic form requests to change the representative for Eurasian applications/Eurasian patents, requests for extension of the term of the Eurasian patent, oppositions against the grant of a Eurasian patent, etc., as well as to send observations related to the patentability of the invention.
