The Republic of Kazakhstan recognized the EAPO as an International Searching Authority under the PCT

This step expands the options available to applicants from the Republic of Kazakhstan in choosing an International Searching Authority (ISA). The EAPO, acting as an ISA, will assist applicants interested in conducting international patent procedures in Russian to conduct an international search in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

The EAPO has been functioning as both an ISA and an International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the PCT since July 1, 2022. Currently, the patent offices of eight EAPO Member States have recognized the EAPO as a competent ISA and IPEA.

“This decision serves the interests of applicants from the Eurasian region and will promote broader use of the PCT system and the development of innovation in the Eurasian region. We are ready to provide our services to all interested parties,” stated EAPO President Grigory Ivliev.
