The Eurasian Patent Office has already granted more than 1000 Eurasian industrial design patents. The 1000th Eurasian patent was granted for the design of phone holders.
The patent owner is a Chinese company. The number of Eurasian applications for industrial design from Chinese applicants is increasing annually. Currently, Chinese companies protect designs of cleaning robots, vehicles, e-cigarettes, toys and other products in the Eurasian region.
Almost any industrial design can be registered under the Eurasian patent system, starting from household appliances and packaging to the design of the interface of websites and apps. Applications for these designs can be filed either as photographs of products or as contour (linear) drawings which is what the applicant of the 1,000th patent did. This is what the applicant of the 1000th patent has done.
Supplementing an industrial design application with a 3D model of the claimed solution is another useful tool of the Eurasian system.
