The 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the Eurasian Patent Convention

The ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the Eurasian Patent Convention was held on September 9, 2025. It is especially symbolic that we celebrated our anniversary at the Victory Museum in the year that marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War – a milestone for the EAPO member states, whose peoples, as part of the multinational Soviet Union, made a decisive contribution to liberating the world from Nazism.

EAPO staff, as well as invited guests of honor and partners of the EAPO, took part in the ceremony.

The participants attended the exhibition dedicated to the history and achievements of the Eurasian patent system.

The participants also held a panel discussion and exchanged opinions and ideas, shared their views on the current state and development prospects of the patent system in the Eurasian region and discussed current challenges and opportunities for innovative growth.

The following guests took part in the discussion:

  • Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation,
  • Lilia Gumerova, Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Eduacaion and Culture of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation,
  • Yury Zubov, Head of Rospatent,
  • Sholpan Abdreyeva, Director of the Department for Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
  • Shavkat Valizoda, First Deputy Director of the National Center for Patents and Information of the Ministry of economic development and trade of the Republic of Tajikistan,
  • Eduard Shablin, President of the Assembly of the Eurasian Patent Attorneys,
  • Natalia Zolotykh, Vice President of the “OPORA RUSSIA”, CEO of Transtechnology LLC,
  • Alexander Grigoriev, President of the Eurasian Patent Office from October 23, 2003, to February 10, 2016.

The guests had a unique opportunity to listen to a poetry performance dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, presented by students of the Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property, as well as a piano concert performed by the ST-DUO duo.
