The ceremony of the official launch of the automatic Russian-English machine translation tool took place on September 26 in Geneva. The Russian-English machine translation tool was developed in trilateral cooperation between EPO, EAPO and Rospatent. The ceremony was attended by the heads of the three participating Offices and their accompanying persons.
In his speech EAPO President Mr. A.N. Grigoriev noted that the launch of the Russian-English machine translation tool is yet another step forward in providing access to the pool of Russian patent documents for the wide circle of inventors and creators of new technology around the world. EAPO participation in this project was a natural continuation if its efforts to provide access to the world patent community to the Eurasian patent documentation via Espacenet network.
Currently the tool provides Eurasian region users with a free access to patent documents on 23 languages. Facilitating access and braking language barriers could not be any more relevant for the creators of new competitive technologies in our region and their colleagues abroad. The launch of the tool will no doubt be also useful to the examiners in their daily duties when carrying out patent examination.
