Press-release on results of the negotiations between the delegations of the Japan Patent office (JPO) and Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO)

On May 23, 2012 the JPO Delegation consisting of Mr. Shimpei YAMAMOTO, Director of the Regional Policy Office, International Affairs Division, JPO and Mr. Kenji KUMAGAI, Assistant Director, International Affairs Division, JPO visited the Eurasian Patent Office for participation at the negotiations with the EAPO Delegation. From the EAPO side the Delegation was represented by Mr. Victor TALYANSKIY, Director, Examination Department (Head of the EAPO Delegation); Mr. Dmitry ROGOZHIN, Director Deputy, Examination Department; and Mrs. Marina KRYUKOVA, Director, International Relations Department.

The theme of the negotiations was planning cooperation on Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Project and the Examiner Exchange Program between EAPO and JPO. During the negotiations the Parties discussed the details of preparation and implementation of both Projects, as well as the particularities of Eurasian patent procedure.

The Parties agreed on readiness to start cooperation in the framework of the Examiner Exchange Program in 2012 and to make efforts for the forthcoming preparation for implementation of the PPH Project.
