Potential for regional IP rights protection in the EAPC Contracting States for Guangdong Enterprises

A seminar “Eurasian Patent System: Advantages and Opportunities” was held in China with the assistance of the Chinese company YOGO Patent and Trademark Agency Co., Ltd.

President of the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys and partner of Patentica company Eduard Shablin, principal examiner of the chemistry and medicines division of the EAPO Examination Department Artem Ezhov and head of foreign patent filings of Patentica company Denis Yachmenenko spoke at the seminar.

Eduard Shablin described the EAPO approaches to the examination of computer-implemented inventions. He emphasized the single window model’s effectiveness for receiving regional protection. It is possible to simultaneously cover the markets of 8 EAPO Member States by filing an application through the EAPO. This allows companies to significantly reduce the expenses for cross-border legal protection.

Artem Ezhov explained the basic principles of obtaining a Eurasian patent in the field of chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
