On December 4, 2018, the General Manager of the European Office of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, the Japanese patent attorney Mr. Toshihiro Yanase accompanied by representatives of “Gorodissky and Partners” law firm visited the EAPO headquarters.
The meeting was focused on the interest of the Japanese company to the Eurasian patent system, EAPO activities, as well as the advantages in obtaining legal protection of inventions in the Eurasian region for Japanese applicants.
EAPO experts presented the Eurasian patent procedure, including legal regulations, cost-effectiveness, user-oriented, and certain aspects of the EAPO activities aimed at reducing the processing time of Eurasian applications while maintaining the high quality of patents.
Mr. Yanase was acquainted with the main directions of cooperation between EAPO and the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and the opportunities for accelerated Eurasian patent procedure based on the results search of and examination conducted in the JPO that are provided for the Japanese applicants within the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Programme between the EAPO and JPO.
