Legal protection is necessary for effective implementation of breakthrough technical solutions in the particular economic sector

Counsel to the EAPO President Emil Mammadov took part in the XII Moscow Innovative Legal Forum.

The forum participants discussed legal aspects of interparliamentary scientific and technological cooperation between Moscow and the BRICS capitals.

Emil Mammadov noted that legal protection provides favorable conditions for authoring teams. It is also necessary for the introduction of breakthrough technical solutions into the economy.

“This is especially important when universities and research institutes implement joint scientific and technical projects. As a rule, educational organizations usually lack their own manufacturing capacity. Cooperation with industrial partners allows implementing innovative solutions,” Mammadov said.

Exclusive rights protection is even more important for international projects. Emil Mammadov noted that the global IP system has a developed regulatory framework. The majority of countries, including the BRICS countries, have highly harmonized legislation.

“Proper IP rights management can help profit from the use of intellectual property results and rights to them, attract additional investments, and increase the competitiveness of participants in scientific and technical projects,” Emil Mammadov stated.
