IP protection is a key element of economic stability and technological security
Counselor to the EAPO President Emil Mammadov took part in the panel session ‘Intellectual property protection and national security’ at the 13th Moscow International Engineering Forum.
“IP protection is crucial for industry and business. Knowledge, innovation, and technology are becoming the defining resources for economic and industrial development in the modern world,’” said Emil Mammadov.

Why is international IP protection important?
- it grants a legitimate monopoly on the production and commercialization of technical solutions,
- offers new opportunities for entrepreneurs,
- protects against unfair competition,
- and attracts international investors and partners.
Emil Mammadov also outlined the specific features of the Eurasian patent system in his report:
- simplified filing procedure: one application, one language, one set of fees,
- protection in all eight countries without additional validation,
- resource savings: reduced costs and time expenditure,
- flexibility for applicants: ability to select countries for legal protection, a ‘single window’ principle.
“The Eurasian patent system is an effective tool that allows industrial enterprises and businesses to preserve and increase the results of intellectual activity, protect them at the regional level, and strehnthen international competitiveness,” Emil Mammadov noted.
