IP outside politics: the EAPO calls for dialogue and equal opportunities at WIPO

At the Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member Statesof WIPO in Geneva, EAPO President Grigory Ivliev emphasized the need to maintain
the neutrality and stability of the global intellectual property system.

“In the current challenging geopolitical situation, itis more important than ever to return to constructive dialogue in order to create the best possible conditions for inventors and creators around the world.

We must not allow IP systems to become less attractive or to lose applicants’ trust due to political reasons,” Mr. Ivliev noted.

He described discriminatory measures, impediments to feepayments and the maintenance of rights as artificial obstacles that can be
removed with political will and dialogue.

The EAPO President also called for active participationin international initiatives:

“WIPO’s global systems, the PPH format, examination
and IT cooperation are essential for the development of IP worldwide”.
