Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan with support of the Eurasian Patent Office launched a new tool for filing patent applications. Now, 3D models of claimed objects may be filed as part of the application documents.
Decision to implement this pilot project in the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan was earlier taken by the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization, based on the initiative of the Eurasian Office to assist national patent offices in introduction of technology to support 3D models in their procedures. The Agency was the first IP Office which expressed its readiness to participate in the initiative.
Since December this year, as a result of the implementation of the project in the Agency, use of graphical materials of applications for inventions, utility models and industrial designs in 3D format was launched. This innovation allows to support the examination of applications, streamline the interaction with users, identify and demonstrate features of the claimed object in more details.
