INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “UP-TO-DATE ISSUES OF EDUCATION IN THE FIELD OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY“ HELD IN THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS”

An international conference “Up-to-date issues of education in the field of intellectual property“ was held in Minsk on May 23-25. 2006 supported by Belorussian State Committee on science and technologies, Belorussia’s National Center of intellectual property and Ministry of education of the Republic of Belarus jointly with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Eurasian Patent Organization.

Along with representatives of state organisations, educational centers and intellectual property agencies, business and public circles of the Republic of Belarus the conference was attended by:

a delegation of Eurasian office headed by EAPO’s vice-president Kh.F.Fayazov, leading experts and specialists of patent offices and educational institutions of the EAPO’s member states;

representatives of the International bureau and WIPO’s International Academy, European Patent Academy, scientific and educational institutions of a number of Central and East-European countries;

Reports made at the conference have covered a wide range of problems characterising present state and and prospectives of intellectual property development concerrning social, economic, legislative, innovative, personnel and other aspects in close cooperation with improvements in educational, scientific, teaching, methodological activities.
EAPO’s vice-president Kh.F.Fayazov, made a report “Eurasian patent organization: prospectives of cooperation“ covering main streams and results of the Organization and its cooperation with patent offices of the EAPO contracting states.

Kh.F.Fayazov has granted the V.I.Blinnikov Gold Medal “For Outstanding Achievement“ to Barkun Natalie Alexandrovne – veteran innovative worker of the Republic of Belarus contributed much in foundation of the Belorussian patent system, system of education and training personnel in the field of intellectual property and development of cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Eurasian patent organization.

As a whole the conference has shown the increasing role of educational component for intellectual property development being especially urgent in forming knowledge-based innovation economy. The conference results have underlined the importance of further development of cooperation on international and regional levels for solving issues associated with creation, protection and use the results of intellectual activities.
