On 26 November, 2020 the President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) Saule Tlevlessova awarded the EAPO Medal “Advancing the Future” to the developer of the project “Personal Medication and Health Management” – the Scientific-industrial Innovation Deployment Center (SIDC, LLC).
The project, which is the finalist of the Patents Power 2020 competition of biotechnological startups, involves the development of an integrated system for delivering medicines via nano-aerosol forms and monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and patient’s health. The implementation of this platform provides a personalized approach to the administration of specific drugs and exact dosages, which results in a significant reduction in side effects. The technology is part of the World Health Organization’s programme for the treatment of tuberculosis and is being implemented in a number of medical institutions in the Russian Federation. In terms of COVID-19 pandemic, the technology was adapted to monitor the condition of COVID-positive patients.
During the meeting at the EAPO premisis the representatives of SIDS, LLC introduced the peculiarities of the developed technology, demonstrated one of the created inhalers, drawing attention to such advantages as low cost, reduced toxicity of treatment and exact dosage calculation for the patient. The project developers shared their plans for patenting technologies and strategy for entering the markets of different regions, discussed tools for protecting their exclusive rights at the national and international levels, including those provided within the Eurasian patent system.
