EAPO President Grigory Ivliev took part at the 14th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC 2025).

He noted that cooperation between Eurasian states and China is reaching a new stage for several key reasons.
In 2024, trade turnover between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China grew by nearly 20%. Since 2019, mutual trade has more than doubled. Since machinery and equipment makes up the bulk of Chinese exports, the protection of industrial property becomes increasingly important.
Joint technoparks are operating successfully, and academic exchanges and research projects are being actively developed.
The strong bilateral partnership with China creates opportunities for moving beyond quantitative growth toward new qualitative forms of cooperation inindustry, R&D, and investment. Joint projects will not only bring mutual benefits but also lead to breakthrough scientific results and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies.
In 2024, the number of invention applications filed by Chinese residents grewby 9.7% (following a 5% increase in 2023 compared to 2022). By the end of 2024,China ranked third among the most active applicants, behind only the UnitedStates and Russia. The PPH cooperation
enables Chinese applicants to benefit from accelerated procedures when moving to the regional phase in Eurasia.
“I am convinced that regional registration systems are a vital element of the global IP architecture. Their importance is growing as regional economic integration processes continue worldwide. Coordinating integration projects across different platforms will create synergy and make our work moreeffective,” said the EAPO President.
