EAPO will enhance partnership with regions in China

Harbin hosted the final session of the roving seminar in the northeastern regions of the People’s Republic of China (Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang). These regions have strong trade and economic relations with the countries of the Eurasian Patent Organization due to their geographical location.

The EAPO delegation presented the advantages of the Eurasian patent to Chinese patent attorneys, representatives of technology companies and universities.

EAPO President Grigory Ivliev held meetings with the regional administration and IP offices, as well as observed the industrial sector of the regions.

The EAPO delegation had a meeting with Mr. Ma Jian, Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Jilin Province, and Mr. Yu Jian, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province, and visited the Chinese FAW automotive company.

Mr. Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner and Ms. Wang Ying, Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) attended the meetings.

“Northeast China has great scientific and technical potential. There are historical centers of machinery manufacturing, metallurgy, and petrochemicals. The IP system helps to access global markets, and the Eurasian patent system is a powerful tool for product promotion in the Eurasian space. Cooperation with China is our priority. The experience of China’s IP breakthrough might be very interesting for patent offices,” Grigory Ivliev said.

CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Mr. Lu Pengqi noted that Northeast China is rapidly developing thanks to innovative technologies including the pharmaceutical industry, the creation of new materials and solutions for more efficient agriculture.

“The Eurasian patent system is an important part of the global IP system and has unique advantages,” Mr. Lu Pengqi stated.
