On October 27-29, 2020 the 18th annual seminar “Intellectual Property Protection Strategies for Successful Company Development” organized by Gorodissky & Partners Law Firm was held by videoconference. Among the speakers of the event were patent attorneys of the Russian Federation, Eurasian patent attorneys and lawyers.
EAPO representative participated in the roundtable discussion on “Use of features describing the range of values in the claims”.
The participants discussed the possibility of changing the range of values while examination and considered the approaches of leading patent offices to determining the patentability of selection inventions.
In particular, specific examples of assessing the novelty of inventions characterized by the selection of the range of values, including the law enforcement practice for challenging patents protecting such inventions, were reviewed.
EAPO representative disclosed the approaches of the Eurasian patent law to determining the novelty of selection inventions.
