EAPO delegation took part in the 13th session of the Committee on WIPO Standards in Geneva.
The session agenda included reviewing reports on the activities of the Committee’s 13 task forces, discussing a new standard, and adopting new versions of five existing standards. These include key standards in the field of technical integration:
- a standard for machine-to-machine communication between information systems of various offices,
- a standard for the international electronic exchange of priority documents.
Participants also discussed the development of WIPO’s global systems and tools, including the API Catalog for Intellectual Property (API), the Digital Access Service (DAS) for priority documents, and a digital tool for authoring and validating gene sequence listings.
The participants further focused on how PCT International Authorities comply with the technical provisions for data preparation under the new PCT Minimum Documentation requirements.
Denis Zastavny, Director of the EAPO Information Technologies Department, presented the EAPO latest achievements:
- publication preparation tool within the new EAPO Integrated Information System,
- a service for digitizing Eurasian patent applications to meet the new requirements for PCT International Searching Authorities,
- daily updates of digitization results in the EAPO Authority File , in accordance with WIPO Standard ST.37.
Andrey Sekretov, Director of the Integration Solutions Division of the EAPO IT Department, informed about the implementation of the latest-generation XML standard ST.96 for both inventions and industrial designs in 2025.
This will enable the EAPO to participate in the leading international information projects and systems, including the integration of data on Eurasian industrial designs into WIPO’s Global Design Database.
