On December 9-11, 2019 the EAPO representatives took part in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) training to study the platform developed by WIPO for optical character recognition (OCR) and digitization of patent documents.
WIPO’s recognition and digitization platform is designed to automatically convert paper patent documents into an electronic format. The platform optimizes the digitization process of large volumes of patent documents.
The Study visit was conducted by Christophe Mazenc, Director of the Global Databases Division, Global Infrastructure Sector, WIPO, for the EAPO IT experts as well as representatives of the national IP offices of Albania and Tunisia to train the WIPO OCR technology and practical skills.
