The WIPO Summer School in Kazakhstan has been held since 2022. Over this period, 150 graduates from 7 countries have completed the training. This year, 30 students are taking part in the two-week program.
The training course covers key areas in the IP field, including copyright, patents and innovations, means of individualization, trade secrets, as well as issues related to commercialization and rights protection. Examiners from Kazpatent, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, WIPO representatives and practicing specialists in the IP field contribute to the program.
EAPO representatives also participated in the course and shared their expertise with the attendees both in person and online.
Principal examiner of the Mechanics, Physics and Electrical Engineering Division of the Examination Department Anastasiia Gutman presented the specifics of the Eurasian system for protection of inventions and industrial designs, patent granting procedure and the EAPO key initiatives.
Principal examiner of the Mechanics, Physics and Electrical Engineering Division of the Examination Department Dmitrii Gudilin spoke about the protection of software-implemented inventions.
Director of the Industrial Designs Division of the Examination Department Assemgul Abenova spoke about design in the digital environment and the legal regimes applicable to its protection.
