On November 28, 2018, Ms. Elvanda Mece, Administrator of International Cooperation of the European Patent Office’s (EPO) attended the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) with a working visit.
The visit was arranged to discuss the joint events scheduled in accordance with the EAPO-EPO cooperation program in the coming years.
The participants reviewed the process of implementation of the ongoing joint events and discussed the details of cooperation aimed at harmonizing approaches and investigating best practices in the field of examination, search, information technology and patent information. EAPO initiated the discussion of expanding the training programs for examiners and experts in the field of patent search, including EPOQUE Net.
The issues of cooperation for implementation of the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) were discussed, as well as participation of the EPO representatives in activities to ensure the EAPO transition to the use of the CPC for published patent documents, including discussion of CPC technical support, quality assessment of data classified according to the CPC.
