The first session of the WIPO ICT Leadership Dialogue (WILD) forum was held at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva.
The new platform brought together heads of IT departments from patent offices in 65 countries, along with representatives of international organizations to share their experience and best practices in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and to foster cooperation in the digitalization of patent offices and IP systems.
Participants discussed the impact of rapid ICT development on business strategies and the provision of IP services. The agenda included the following key topics:
- digital strategies for patent offices and data management approaches,
- cybersecurity,
- AI tools for patent offices and users of IP systems,
- integration of information systems and global platforms for IP data access,
- standardization and harmonization of IP data to enhance global information exchange.
Director of the Information Technologies Department Denis Zastavnyi represented EAPO at the forum. He shared EAPO’s experience in digitalization, implementation of AI, and adoption of new WIPO standards in the field of patent information.
On the sidelines of the forum, Denis Zastavnyi also held discussions with representatives of the WIPO International Bureau and delegates from different patent offices.
