Cooperation Issues were Discussed with Representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization

Representatives of the EAPO delegation, at meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva from September 24 to October 2, 2018, discussed cooperation with representatives of WIPO departments.

During the meeting with representatives of the Department of Transition and Developed Countries, the parties discussed joint activities planned for 2019, including regional seminars in the member states of the Eurasian Patent Convention and in EAP Office as part of internships for examiners and other specialists of national patent offices of the Eurasian region, etc.

Patent information cooperation issues were discussed with representatives of the Global Databases Division of the WIPO Global Infrastructure Sector. The issues of the operation and use of WIPO databases and web services, including the features of work with the PATENTSCOPE search engine and the machine translation system WIPO Translate were touched upon.

The EAPO representatives spoke about the use of the WIPO Translate system in the Office and were acquainted with an improved version of the system developed by WIPO experts, as well as other WIPO achievements in the field of artificial intelligence technologies used, in particular, for speech recognition and work with images.
