On the margins of the 58th series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization, held in Geneva from September 24 to October 2, 2018 representatives of the EAPO delegation held bilateral working meetings.
Short negotiations were held with the delegation of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI). The parties discussed the general directions of activities of the Eurasian and African regional organizations and expressed readiness to establish cooperation in a number of areas.
The OAPI delegation supported the proposal of EAPO representatives to organize reciprocal visits to study the experience of the African organization in the administration and organization of work processes in provision of legal protection for industrial designs.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in preparing a joint memorandum of understanding and agreed on the possibility of holding a signing ceremony in 2019.
